Managing Director

First State Ballet Theatre

     

First State Ballet Theatre, a professional dance company and school in its 25th year, seeks an enthusiastic and hard-working person to join the team as Managing Director. The ideal candidate will have a passion for arts administration and possess the ability to work well with a small team and individually. This person will have the drive to navigate the organization through a time of opportunity and growth.

The Managing Director reports to the Executive Director and oversees the planning, implementation, and operations to uphold the mission of the company.

Areas of Responsibility

Team Management

·        Work as liaison for Executive Director with administrative staff and Board of Directors

·        Work in conjunction with Company Directors to develop dance projects which fulfill FSBT’s mission and are financially feasible

·        Work with Development Director to implement comprehensive fundraising strategies

·        Work with Marketing Director implementing marketing plans for FSBT programs

  • Work closely with Board of Directors on all fundraising activities including special events, annual appeals, and project initiatives

  • Attend all meetings of the Board; prepare reports (including, but not limited to: financial report, staff/administrative report, and other ad hoc reports as required)

Fundraising and Development

·        Maintain and cultivate relationships with FSBT’s current funders and grantors

·        Maintain accurate and complete records of contributions, grants and other support

·        Ensure that all contributions and other support are acknowledged as may be required by law and as is otherwise appropriate

·        Monitor grant cycles and appropriate grant applications and reports to foundations,corporations, and government agencies

·        Identify new grants, funding and networking opportunities that are aligned with FSBT’s mission and goals

·        Set annual fundraising goals and implement fundraising systems

·        Maintain a visible presence in the arts/dance community by being a spokesperson for FSBT

  • Keep abreast of activities and developments in the arts/dance community

Financial Management

·        Direct program managers in developing budgets and oversee adherence to developed budgets

·        Maintain fiscal operations in compliance with non-profit, federal, state and local regulations and funding guidelines, and FSBT Fiscal Policies Manual

·        Work with Board Treasurer to develop budget reports necessary for financial oversight

·        Maintain adequate insurance and manage relationship with insurance broker

Other duties as assigned

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position. Salary range $50,000-60,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits negotiable

Skills and Qualifications

·        Nonprofit management experience and training.

·        Ability to plan and act strategically with demonstrated supervisory skills.

·        Experience in Google Calendar, Google Drive (Docs and Forms), Dropbox, and other web applications.

·        Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Publisher) and computer systems.

·        Familiar with Donor Management Systems and Accounting Software such as Quickbooks Online.

·        Knowledge of and experience in nonprofit management.

·        Passion for arts administration.

FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST - Whitehall Location

As a Front Desk Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for visitors and clients, providing excellent customer service and administrative support in a professional office setting.

Responsibilities: Greeting and welcoming visitors with a warm and friendly demeanor, answering and directing phone calls professionally, managing lobby, maintaining a clean and organized reception area and completing opening and closing checklist, helping place uniform orders using sizing kit.

Qualifications: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational and multitasking abilities, proficient in Microsoft Office suite, previous experience in a customer service or administrative role preferred, previous experience with Jackrabbit software and SquareSpace preferred.

Hourly Pay starts at $15 per hour

Desired hours:

Wednesdays and Thursdays 4:00pm-8:30pm + Saturdays 8:30am-1:30pm

WARDROBE/PROPS MANAGER-Independent Contract Position

We are looking for a motivated and organized individual to manage wardrobe and props for our 2024-25 professional ballet season performances.

  • Approximately 12 non-consecutive weeks of work from August 2024 through April 2025 (centered around performance schedule).

  • Schedule and organize fittings, keep detailed listings of alterations, confirm their completion, pull and pack costumes for off-site performances, and other duties.

  • Moderate sewing is necessary for alterations and emergency repairs during performances (position may also manage duties for volunteers who assist with alterations).

  • Candidate must attend studio dress rehearsal and all tech, dress rehearsals and performances.

  • This individual would also organize and attend to props in a similar manner.
