Pasha Kambalov graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy, directed by Konstantin Sergeyev, in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he studied under famed teacher V.S. Zimin. Following graduation, he danced with Donetsk Ballet in the Ukraine and the Komi Republic State Opera and Ballet in Russia, and toured extensively throughout the USSR, the United States and Europe. In the United States he danced with Russian Ballet Theatre under the direction of Honored Artist of the Russian Republic Lev Assouliak.
Mr. Kambalov is the founding Artistic Director of First State Ballet Theatre, Delaware’s professional ballet company. Under his directorship, the company has grown from 10 to 22 dancers and has performed many of the great classical ballets, including Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, Coppélia, Don Quixote, and Swan Lake, as well as contemporary works such as Viktor Plotnikov’s The Adventures of Pinocchio and Alex Buckner’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Mr. Kambalov helped to establish residency for the company and The School of First State Ballet Theatre at the historic Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Delaware. He has successfully built artistic partnerships with The Delaware Symphony Orchestra, OperaDelaware, The Grand Opera House and the City of Wilmington.
Mr. Kambalov was awarded the 2005-06 Teacher Recognition Certificate from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. In the same year, he received the Wilmingtonian Award for outstanding contributions to the quality of life in Wilmington. Mr. Kambalov is a sought-after guest teacher and a co-founder and faculty member of The School of First State Ballet Theatre.
