Leyna Obara is a Delaware native and began dancing at the age of four with The School of First State Ballet Theatre. During her time at the school, she had the opportunity to dance alongside the company in various corps roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, The Nutcrackerand more. She has received scholarships from the Delaware Dance Festival, the Diane Drulis Foundation, Burklyn Ballet Theatre and Cab Calloway School of the Arts. Leyna has competed at YAGP and WBC and had the honor to be a part of Viktor Plotnikov’s Eddy, which placed in the Top 12 at the 2017 YAGP NYC Finals, and Hope, which placed in the Top 12 at the 2018 YAGP Finals and received the Gold Medal at the 2018 World Ballet Competition. Leyna is a student at the University of Delaware studying Exercise Science. When outside of the studio, she loves to spend time with her dog, Moose. This will be Leyna’s second season with the company and she is so happy to be here!
